What is Dentures?

Dentures are a removable set of teeth that are used as a replacement for missing teeth and tissues. It’s a kind of artificial teeth that can be taken out and put back into the mouth. Dentures are required mostly when a person has lost a few or all of his teeth either due to old age or some injury. They are custom made especially for a set of teeth and gum line.

Do's and Don'ts Dentures ?

Generally, having dentures allows you to eat all kinds of food, but still, you have some do’s and don’ts in your pocket that you must follow with dentures-

Do’s

  • Take out your dentures at night after the meal, brush it and soak it overnight in water
  • Wash your dentures before putting them in the morning
  • Brush every day
  • Rinse it after taking out of your mouth every time you eat
  • Do visit your dentist if you find them loose

Don’ts

  • Avoid eating too hot or too cold food items
  • Avoid harsh brushing
  • Avoid using a toothpick or pointed objects
  • Avoid using bleach containing products

Procedure of Dental Implants?

Step 1- The first step starts with clearing your entire area of the gum. Suppose if all of your teeth have fallen off and only one or two are left, then the surgeon will take them off first.

Step 2- The doctor will then take the impressions of your jaw to analyze how well they relate to one another and whether they have spaces in between them.

Step 3- The doctor then determines whether you need a complete denture or partial denture.

Step 4- A wax model is then prepared to check the fitting.

Step 5- Using the wax model, a final Denture is made of your jaw size.

Step 6- The patient is made to try the final set of dentures and if necessary, adjustments are made to match the fitting.

TYPES OF Denture ?

Basically, there are two types of dentures depending upon the extent of teeth you have left in your mouth.

Complete dentures:
Complete dentures or full dentures consist of both upper and lower jaw with a complete set of teeth a person naturally has. These are removable. These are made from porcelain or acrylic and are held together with an acrylic or metal base. With good care and maintenance, it can last somewhere from 5–10 years.


Partial Dentures:
Partial dentures come into play when you have lost some of your teeth either in the upper jaw or lower jaw. It consists of replaced missing teeth attached to artificial gum connected by a metal framework. It can be unclipped and removed when needed.
